Art Biz 101: You're Got Mail

Let's chat about your email list – seriously, it's your power tool!


This is a direct line to people who actually want to hear from you, unlike the social media rollercoaster. Think of it as your cozy little corner of the internet where you build real connections.

 

Start growing that list! Pop sign-up forms on your website and social media, and grab emails at shows – I use my iPad on a stand, super easy. Offer a fun freebie, like a mini-tutorial or a digital print, as a thank you!

 

I use Wix for my email and webstie (Squarespace works great too!), but Mailchimp, Brevo, and ConvertKit are awesome standalone options. Pick what fits your budget and needs.

 

Now, keep in touch! Aim for at least monthly emails, but weekly is even better. Here's what you can share (don’t forget to add great photos):

  • Studio peeks: Show off your messy, creative space! People love seeing the behind-the-scenes.

  • Q&A: Answer their questions and get to know them.

  • Early-bird access: Give your subscribers the VIP treatment with first dibs on new work.

  • Personal picks: I think you'd love this one... Curate recommendations just for them.

  • Story time: Share the stories behind your art. It adds so much meaning!

  • Free digital art: A little gift for your loyal fans to download.

  • Collector love: Spotlight a collector and their story – build that community!
