Welcome to Make Mini Abstracts + The Art of Play – a workshop designed to liberate your creative spirit and redefine your artistic journey. You Will Develop: • Visual Vocabulary: Experiment with simple shapes—lines, dots, splotches, and scribbles—as your core visual vocabulary. Embrace spontaneous gestures and limited colors to express your artistic voice. • Playful Unlearning: Embrace simplicity, learning to work with seemingly basic ideas, and gestures that naturally infuse your art with joy and dynamic movement. • Confident Curiosity: Develop a confident, yet curious, hand, mind, and eye, transforming your studio into a creative laboratory where experimentation and discovery thrive. • Make big impressions with small paintings (from 8” x 8”, up to 24” x 24”). Abstract expressionist art’s hallmark is big… big canvas, big color, big movement. You will explore how to translate the impact of “bigness” to smaller works. The workshop covers: • Expressing your ideas abstractly • Creating abstract art on a small scale • 5 Ways to begin abstract art • Prompts to get you unstuck & moving forward • Using brushes, tools, hands, found objects • How to prep, paint, finish and present on cradled wood panels and canvas. This is your exclusive ticket to a transformative experience, where imagination, originality, and joy intertwine seamlessly with every stroke of your artistic expression. There's nothing else quite like The Art of Play + Make Mini Abstracts. This is for: • All levels of creatives -- beginner to intermediate. • Working in acrylic & water based mixed media. No oil. Registration includes lunch & refreshments. Supply List will be provided upon registration. Limited to 12. Beverly Todd Through large-scale abstract painting, Beverly’s art playfully dances with color and movement. Her painting process is physical, using hardware-store brushes, broken sticks, rags, and hands to drip, scrape, wipe and pull paint across surfaces. She works in acrylic, oil, soft wax, and with paper. Bev is an anything-but-usual abstract painter, workshop leader, and creativity coach who specializes in helping creatives become ARTISTS. She focuses on how to see and create, and move through life as an artis

Cancellation Policy

Please read the tab More>Your Health & Wellness Policy COVID VACCINATION HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to protect the health of every participant Payment and Refund Policy • Enrollment is only guaranteed with registration and full payment • We use PayPal and QuickBooks for your online payment and refunds. Keeping your financial information secure is absolutely our top priority. Please contact us if you prefer to pay by check or money order • A minimum of 10 students is required per workshop. If the minimum is not met 30 days before the start date, the workshop may be cancelled. Students will be notified via email. A full refund will be issued. It is recommended that student not make non-refundable travel or lodging arrangement prior to 30 days • If Santa Fe Artists Getaway cancels the workshop for any reason, students shall receive a full refund • Student cancellations must be submitted in writing, and received by btoddarts@gmail.com • Cancellations made 31 days before the first day of class receive a full refund, less a $100 processing fee • Any cancellations made 30 days or less in advance of the first day will receive no refund, unless there is a wait list and another student takes that place; then the student shall receive a full refund less a $100 processing fee • No refund, credits or transfers will be applied on or after the workshop start date • No refund, credit or make-up will be offered for missed days • A $100 fee will be charged on all returned checks
