Your Art Called, This Place Answered

This is a place that I’ll never take for granted. The story of SFAG is worth sharing with you.... because this is meant to be YOUR PLACE too.

There are places you just know you're meant to be. Santa Fe is that for me.

I hit 50 and decided, That's it. I'm diving headfirst into art, making it my life. And when I landed here, it just clicked. This was the place. The place where my dream – a live/work space for myself, and a creative haven for other artists – could actually breathe.

September 2019. Signed the papers, and boom! Santa Fe Artist Getaway was born.

Before me, this adobe retreat had its own story. Built by Susan Contreas and Eliza  Rivera, two incredible artists. Susan told me about the blessing ceremony, how they walked the land until it spoke to them, showing them where to build their studios. Can you imagine -- 28 years of world-renowned art created right here!

Life throws curveballs, right? Eliza's health changed things, and they moved. But their legacy? It's alive here. I feel so grateful to carry on the story of "where art happens."

Let me paint you a picture…

My studio, Studio Gray Fox, is just 40 steps from my kitchen door. North windows framing the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The scent of piñon, the golden Chamisa… the land itself is whispering, "create." And with the vast landscapes outside, my big, abstract pieces just flow. I feel the studio calling me to play big.

Then there's Studio Raven. Sunlight flooding in, those floor-to-ceiling windows… pure magic. From April to October, it's buzzing with workshops led by amazing artists. A space for heart-centered creativity, for sparking inspiration, for real connections.

And between workshops? Self-directed residencies. Imagine waking up in the loft, desert views stretching out before you. Coffee in hand, or maybe not even! Just diving into your art, in your pajamas, because the studio's calling.

That's what happens here. You don't just make art; you become the artist you're meant to be. You unravel, you expand, then... you just… create.
