Service Description
Is there anything more glorious than sitting down at a table full of art supplies and letting loose? Especially when no experience is required. We agree. Here you’ll discover what inspires you and how to translate that into an abstract art story through mixed media – combining painting, collage, stencil, and mark making. Learn different ways of mixing and blending paint with unusual materials, collage techniques, fun printing methods, mark-making with found objects, and original ways to incorporate stencils and stamps into your work. You’ll learn a range of techniques using acrylic paint, charcoal, oil pastels, wet and dry media, printing, mark-making materials, and collage. Work on 12” x 12” panel and paper, get step-by-step instruction, and work on start-to-finish projects. What Is Mixed Media? Mixed media is artwork that combines different media or materials into one piece. For example, a piece of art that combines acrylic paint with fabric and paper is mixed media art. All material and supplies are provided (a $150 value). You’ll leave with six 12” x 12” painted panels and your own 8’ x 10” gel press printing plate & 4” roller. You may also choose to bring along your favorite art-making tools (this is not necessary, but if there is something you have and would like to learn to use, bring it along). Registration includes all supplies, lunch and refreshments. For beginner to intermediate artists. Beverly Todd wwwbtoddarts.com Through large-scale abstract painting, Beverly interprets nature. Connects with ideas. And explores emotion. Her painting process is physical, using hardware-store brushes. Broken sticks. Rags. And hands. To move paint. To add layers. To pull back layers. To drip. To scrape and wipe. And to pull the paint across the surface. Beverly grew up in rural American near Union, Nebr. Often happily lost for hours in the open prairie landscape that inspires her work. Today, she paints in her Santa Fe, New Mexico, studio and takes cues from the high desert landscape. Wanting to give other creatives the same experience, Bev opened Santa Fe Artist Getaway in 2019 - a place for all artists to stay, play, and create. Beverly is a workshop leader and creativity coach, sharing her passion for exploration, adventure, & creativity.
